Holy Trinity – after Andrei Rublev
The icon Holy Trinity was created after one of the most important and symbolic compositions in the history of icon painting — Andrei Rublev’s famous Trinity. The work refers to the Byzantine tradition and the spirituality of the Christian East, depicting the three angels as a symbol of unity, harmony, and the divine love of the Triune God. The icon was executed using the traditional technique of egg tempera on a lime wood panel, enriched with hand-applied gold leaf. The golden background creates a timeless and spiritual space characteristic of icon art, where light becomes a symbol of the presence of God. In this work, I paid particular attention to the subtlety of light, the rhythm of the garments, and the calmness of the gestures and expressions of the figures. Delicate facial modeling and a harmonious color palette are intended to evoke an atmosphere of silence, contemplation, and spiritual reflection. My inspiration came both from the classical iconographic tradition and from a personal search for beauty hidden within simplicity and sacred light. The gilded elements were crafted entirely by hand, with careful attention to detail and the historical character of sacred ornamentation. The icon represents an attempt to unite ancient technique and symbolism with the individual sensitivity of a contemporary artist.
