This Archangel Gabriel icon was painted entirely by hand in the Monnci Art studio by Monika Żurowska. The work combines the visual language of traditional iconography with a subtle contemporary sensitivity.
The figure of the Archangel emerges against a deep red background, while the gilded halo surrounding his face catches and reflects the light, changing subtly depending on its surroundings and the time of day. The delicately modelled face, decorative curls, expressive wing and intense blue accents create a harmonious yet distinctive composition.
The icon was painted using wax-casein tempera and embellished with 23.75K gold leaf. Every detail is created by hand, making the piece an individual original artwork rather than a reproduction.
